This box is quite special to me. About a year ago, when walking the dogs, I spotted a log in the undergrowth when walking through some trees and I noticed that it had started to spalt. So I pushed it further into the bushes, out of sight. Almost a year later, I went and collected the log with my car and split off the spalted face with an axe. I then dimensioned it by hand and used it in the lid of this box which I think provides a beautiful contrast. The box itself is made from African Blackwood, an absolutely horrible material to work, and the slatted bottom is made from Bubinga.
